Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at drvinay@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You can call the clinic directly, message through the website contact form, or visit during consultation hours (Monday to Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM). Emergency or referral cases are prioritised.

Please carry all your previous reports — blood tests, scans (CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-rays), operative notes, discharge summaries, and a list of current medications. Bringing a family member is encouraged for better understanding and recall.

Dr Vinay Kumar will review your records, perform an examination, and discuss your diagnosis in detail. If additional tests are required, they’ll be arranged promptly. You’ll receive a clear treatment plan and written summary before you leave.

A referral is helpful but not mandatory. If you’ve been advised by your physician or another specialist, please bring the referral note for context.

Surgery is recommended only after thorough evaluation and discussion. Dr Vinay Kumar ensures you understand the diagnosis, options, risks, and expected outcomes before any decision is made.

You’ll be given pre-operative instructions, including fasting hours, medication adjustments, and basic investigations (blood tests, ECG, imaging). Avoid smoking and alcohol, eat light meals, and follow the nurse’s or anaesthetist’s guidance.

All operations are done at accredited hospitals equipped with modern operating theatres, advanced imaging, and 24-hour critical-care facilities. The exact hospital will depend on your condition and convenience.

Yes. Every patient meets the anaesthetist for a pre-operative assessment. This helps identify any concerns and plan the safest anaesthesia method.

It varies by procedure. Laparoscopic surgeries often allow discharge within 1–2 days, while complex liver or pancreatic operations may need 5–7 days or longer for safe recovery.

Dr Vinay Kumar personally meets or calls the family after the operation to explain the findings, results, and next steps.

Pain is managed effectively with modern medicines and techniques. Stitches are usually absorbable or removed at your first follow-up visit. You’ll receive clear wound-care instructions before discharge.

Most patients resume light activity in 1–2 weeks. For major surgeries, recovery may take 4–6 weeks. Your exact timeline will be shared based on your healing progress.

Initially, soft, easy-to-digest foods are recommended. For liver, pancreatic, or gallbladder surgery, your diet will be customised to support healing and digestion. Avoid oily, spicy, or heavy meals until advised otherwise.

For hernia and abdominal wall repairs, mild exercises and physiotherapy help strengthen muscles. After major HPB surgeries, breathing and mobility exercises are taught in the hospital.

The first visit is usually 7–10 days after discharge. Thereafter, follow-ups are spaced out depending on your progress — typically at 1 month, 3 months, and then as advised.

Call the clinic if you develop fever, persistent pain, vomiting, jaundice, wound discharge, or any new symptoms. A contact number is provided on your discharge sheet for emergencies.

Yes. The clinic and hospitals assist with cashless or reimbursement options through most major insurers. Please bring your card and ID for verification during the first visit.

Yes. Once the diagnosis and hospital choice are confirmed, a written cost estimate is provided covering surgical, anaesthesia, and hospital charges.

Yes. The method is chosen based on your condition, anatomy, and safety. Laparoscopy offers faster recovery, while open surgery may be necessary for complex cases.

Yes. Every patient is evaluated and operated on by Dr Vinay Kumar himself. His team assists with pre- and post-operative care.

An emergency contact number is provided on your discharge summary. For non-urgent queries, you can message or email, and the team will respond the next working day.

Your health and comfort are my priority. Whether you come directly or through a referring doctor, you will receive honest advice, skilled surgery, and continuous care — from consultation to complete recovery.
